WHO CAN JOIN THE UESL PROGRAMS?

  • This program is available to SDRC clients, ages 8 - adult, at no cost to the participating individual or their family.

WHAT IS THE SAN DIEGO REGIONAL CENTER?

  • The San Diego Regional Center is an organization that serves 39,000+ clients here in San Diego. They help individuals with developmental disabilities by providing services, resources, and support.

WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE IT TO THE PROGRAM TODAY?

  • The attendance hotline is a line for existing clients to be able to notify staff that they are not able to attend on days that they are scheduled for our program. It is required that all absences be announced in order to be able appropriately pay staff and facilitate our program. ATTENDANCE HOTLINE: +1 833.333.UESL (8375)

STAFFING

HOW IS STAFF FOR THE PROGRAM SOURCED?

  • Staff is sourced from local educational institutions and is selected based on their experience in working with, and advocating for individuals with special needs/disabilities.

HOW DO I APPLY TO BE A UESL COACH?

  • Our coaching staff undergoes rigorous training sessions that are informed by decades of collective professional experience and dedicated study of the IDD community. They play a pivotal role in ensuring that every participant receives the support and encouragement they need to thrive. DOES UESL NEED VOLUNTEERS?

CURRICULUM

HOW IS CURRICULUM WRITTEN/WHERE DOES EXPERTISE COME FROM?

  • UESL founder, Matthew Iske, is a credentialed teacher and a NASEF scholastic fellow. Several individuals on staff for UESL have decades of experience coaching and teaching individuals with special needs/disabilities, and some of these individuals possess masters level or higher degrees in psychology education etc. 

PROGRAM

HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM RUN?

  • This program runs year-round and through summer and winter school breaks - with the exception of holidays. LOCATIONS CLOSED ON THE FOLLOWING DATES: 4th of July: 7/4, Thanksgiving: 11/27, 11/28, 11/29, Christmas: 12/24,12/25, 12/26, New Year: 1/1

DOES THIS PROGRAM HAPPEN IN-PERSON OR VIRTUALLY?

DO I NEED MY OWN EQUIPMENT?

  • No, UESL provides all equipment necessary for this experience, all that is needed is clearance from your San Diego Regional Center case manager.

FOUNDATION

WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION FOR UNIFIED ESPORTS?

  • The Foundation for Unified Esports supports the function of the Unified Esports League in its many efforts to host and coordinate esports experiences for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

HOW DO MY DONATIONS HELP UESL?

  • Donations given to the Foundation for Unified Esports provide enrichment and activities for individuals with disabilities/special needs throughout San Diego County, vocational esports enrichment camps and after school activity for grade school and middle school youth, organized competition leagues & championships for high school & college students, special education youth in Poway and San Diego Unified School Districts, and more!
