We’re proud to announce an official partnership with Bonsall Unified School District!

The Unified Esports League (UESL) is an organization that provides its Gaming and Technology Education Program for the IDD community. As an approved vendor of the San Diego Regional Center they are able to provide their program at zero cost to the participant or their family. UESL programs focus on helping people make friends, play on a team, build social emotional skills, and improve their physical health and wellness through the use of various forms of gaming and technology.

On August 15 2024, the Bonsall Unified School Board successfully passed a motion to approve the agreement between UESL and Bonsall Unified. The passing of this agreement marks the beginning of a relationship in which UESL will work with local Bonsall schools to establish a Gaming and Technology Center. UESL provides all of the necessary resources to partner with schools to establish Gaming and Technology Centers. These locations serve two crucial purposes: they make UESL’s innovative Gaming and Technology Program available to families and students with IDD in the district and in the surrounding community, and also help to make esports programming and curriculum, which is now a CIF sanctioned sport, available to Bonsall Unified general education students. Esports is one of the fastest growing industries in both education and entertainment. The industry is valued at several billion dollars, and over 200M is currently available in scholarships to major colleges all over the country.

Studies show that access to a team environment in which individuals with developmental disabilities can interact with their peers and are coached to pursue their passions have a tremendously positive impact on their mental and physical health. Additionally studies have shown that schools that have an esports program can as much as a 10%improvement in overall attendance and a +1.6 overall GPA increase for the general education students that participate in an esports program at school.

UESL places a significant emphasis on helping people in the IDD community improve their physical health and wellness. Healthy body = healthy mind = good gamer. UESL curriculum ensures that all participants take a healthy activity break each day. Participants focus on key areas of health and wellness such as physical fitness, yoga, posture, nutrition, and more. UESL utilizes these tools to help people establish and maintain a healthy relationship with technology and explore how it can enhance all aspects of our lives.

UESL would like to extend a special thank you to Joseph Clevenger, former superintendent of Bonsall Unified, for his support in initiating this partnership and advocating for the families and students of Bonsall. Joseph played a crucial role in ensuring that families and students with special needs in Bonsall receive access to the support and service necessary for them to thrive and grow in our ever evolving society of technology.

This partnership with Bonsall Unified marks another step of progress and achievement for UESL as they continue their mission to provide service to San Diego Regional Center clients and families all over San Diego County. UESL plans to have 15-20 locations for service in San Diego by the end of 2025 to provide service for families within SanDiego County as well as in Imperial Valley.
